Suntory NOPE Japan is one of the more unusual Japanese soda releases of 2026. Officially called Guilty Carbonated NOPE, this drink blends more than 99 fruit and spice flavors into a layered, sweet, rich and complex carbonated beverage. Suntory says the recipe includes ripe and tropical fruit aromas, spices, vanillin and other flavor notes designed to create a taste that is difficult to describe with just one flavor name.
The formula is intentionally built around all five basic tastes — sweetness, sourness, bitterness, saltiness and umami — giving NOPE a much more complex profile than a typical fruit soda. Suntory also adds a proprietary aromatic oil intended to leave a stronger, lingering finish.
NOPE launched nationwide in Japan on March 24, 2026, with this 340 mL can sold primarily through vending machines. Suntory also offers a 600 mL bottle version.
The black-and-magenta packaging and dripping face logo give it a rebellious look that matches the brand’s “guilty soda” concept. For anyone who enjoys strange Japanese drinks, complex fruit sodas or hard-to-find international releases, NOPE is definitely one of the more interesting drinks to try.
